Nefertiti is best known for her painted sandstone bust, which was rediscovered in 1913 and became a global icon of feminine beauty and power. Her bust has been an icon for many women and for many modern cosmetic lines. Many societies around the world have adopted the queen as a symbol of true beauty. Some historians have even proclaimed her the most beautiful woman in the world. Whatever people have said about her, one thing holds true she remains renowned for her beauty after her death and during her life as a queen.She was the mother of Ankhesenpaaten, the wife of Tutankhamun, the Egyptian pharaoh of the 18th dynasty during the period of Egyptian history known as the New Kingdom or sometimes the New Empire. Tutankhamun succeed the throne and also inherited the curse of Nefertiti. This refers to an alleged curse of the pharaohs believed by some to be cast upon any person who disturbs the mummy of an Ancient Egyptian person, especially a pharaoh. This curse, which does not differentiate between thieves and archaeologists, allegedly can cause bad luck, illness or death. Many archaeologists and thieves had tried to enter Tutankhamun's tomb, but lost their lives trying. The tomb again sparked a renewed public interest in ancient Egypt. This time Clara, a young archaeologist with a little experience behind her, is determined to enter the famous pharaoh's tomb and remain alive. In order to do this Clara knows that first she has to break Nefertiti's curse. |
